1934 TRIUMPH GLORIA SALOON
Specifications: Fully registered: Still carrying original
Victorian plate 100 318. Chassis No: 673.
Engine: Coventry Climax 9.53 h.p, 4 cylinders; 62mm bore
by 90mm stroke; capacity 1,087cc; overhead inlet and
side exhaust valves; single easy start down-draught
carburetor.
Gearbox: Four forward speeds and reverse with free-wheel
pre-selection.
Brakes: 12 inch diameter Lockheed hydraulically operated
on all four wheels, handbrake operation on rear drums.
During 1933 and 1934, Triumph Glorias were imported
from the UK as rolling chassis and bodied by local
coachbuilders. This Gloria was completed by Ruskin
Body Works in Melbourne
In 1934, Triumphs Managing Director, Lt. Col. Claude
Holbrook, brought in Donald Healey (later of Austin
Healey fame) to "round off" what he called "The finest
cars in the land" they were the Gloria and the Dolomite.
