Lindasy organised the same position as last year although 
the actual location came with a warning regarding the 
fireworks display on the Saturday evening. Saturday was 
predicted as being the better day weather wise and an 
early bunch of volunteers (many thanks you know who you are) 
were busy erecting the bright blue and yellow Club tent 
in the usual place strategically positioned to get the 
best view of the show horses and far enough away from 
"Hot Doggie, Hot Doggie" for those who remember.

Club cars continued to arrive till around 9.00am and 
with the Club tent pegged down under scout leader Keith’s 
instructions we roped or hazard taped off the cars after 
some vague parking instructions from the two "K’s" 
(Kevin and Kel).

The Dandenong Show Display is more of a social occasion 
and is made even better by sipping cups of tea and coffee 
with pancakes made by the Club’s resident Cheffess Mazz. 
Well some called them pancakes others referred to them 
as a meal and a half, so big were they. Others asked 
for a refund or exchange under warrantee due to the 
charcoal outside or the liquid inside, notwithstanding 
the odd complaint they really hit the spot.

The Saturday was poorly attended either due to the threat
of rain and maybe due to election day or maybe some 
other reason. And in the afternoon when the rain did 
come down in anger DVHCC member’s main concern was to 
keep dry themselves or protect and keep dry the vehicles 
on display. Kevin would like to thank all those involved 
it covering up the holes where the side curtains should 
go to keep the inside of his Lagonda dry.

Members came and went most of the day, probably to vote, 
although the smart ones like Les and Pauline put in a 
postal vote, and by 5.30 pm most had gone home except 
for a few who stayed for the death defying motorcycle 
stunt riders and the spectacular fireworks display. 

The fireworks was staged from two locations and in 
lots of occasions was directly overhead and showered 
the Presidential Mercedes with white powder and ash 
which had to be washed off. The organisers were quite 
surprised when they discovered a small group of vintage 
car enthusiasts watching the display from the Club tent 
in the centre of the fireworks display.

Sunday the weather had worsened somewhat and a big 
thankyou to those who braved the elements to display 
their vehicle. Breakfast pancakes with jam and cream 
were again provided and again it became more of a social 
time to share than a DVHCC car display as there was 
no public to be seen. Many of the stall holders did 
not even bother to open on Sunday.

The sun at one time did shine through and for a while 
long enough for some to chamois off the pride and joy 
and take in the show animals, the art display the side 
shows and the few stalls that attended this year.

By lunch time it became evident that the weather was 
not going to improve and a Presidential decision was made 
to break camp and call it another day/year/Dandenong Show. 

Many hands make light work and very quickly the Club 
tent was down, everything packed into the Club trailer 
and it was home again to get ready for next weekend .. 
the Bendigo Federation Swap.

Thanks to all those who helped on the weekend especially 
those who provided their DVHCC Club vehicle to promote 
the Club in the Dandenong Valley region.
